Official Automatic Reminders?
Official Automatic Reminders?
  • Virginia does NOT mail sample ballots to all registered voters or reminders to vote. Only a few states mail sample ballots to every voter.
  • Only voters on Virginia's Permanent Absentee Ballot List automatically receive a ballot by mail before each election — this acts as their reminder.
  • Local offices in James City County, Williamsburg, and York County post sample ballots online; they do not mail them out. Check your local registrar’s website for sample ballots.

  • If you sign up for the Permanent Absentee (Vote-by-Mail) List, you’ll get your official ballot with Instructions for completion & return and the return envelopes.
  • Ballots are mailed early enough so you have time to vote.
  • Your local registrar may add instructions.
