Free public program hosted by the Peninsula Unit of the League of Women Voters of the Williamsburg Area.

Andria Timmer, a professor of anthropology at Christopher Newport University, and Meghan McNamara, an immigrants' rights advocate, will present on immigration. Prof. Timmer researches refugee and immigrant integration and the work of humanitarian organizations to help displaced people. In Fall 2026 she will teach a a class called Migration, Displacement, and Refugees.
Meghan McNamara  is active in Virginia Organizing and the newly formed nonprofit Immigrant Rights Organizing Network (IRON).

We will also share highlights of the 2026 LWVUS National Convention and plan activities for the remainder of the year.
