Virginia has scheduled a primary election for Tuesday, August 4, 2026.
Primary elections choose party nominees for the November general election, including candidates for U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate.
Voters in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District who choose to vote in the Democratic primary will have a contest for U.S. House of Representatives, with seven candidates seeking the Democratic nomination.
Voters who choose to vote in the Republican primary will have a contest for U.S. Senate, with three candidates seeking the Republican nomination.
The races on your ballot depend on where you live and which party primary ballot you choose.
Election Day polls are open from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Anyone in line at 7:00 PM will be allowed to vote.
