GREAT DECISIONS - JOIN OUR TEAM

From Don Schilling, Co-Coordinator of Great Decisions

I have now served for five years recruiting speakers to address the topics selected by the Foreign Policy Association’s Great Decisions Program and to arrange their visits either in person in the Williamsburg Regional Library Auditorium or on Zoom. It has been very rewarding to be part of this program, but next year will be my last in this position. I would like the transition to new leadership to be seamless, so I encourage anyone with a possible interest taking over in 2025 to contact me. We could have a team and not just an individual assuming this role. Next year we would do some training and I would expect to be around in 2025 to help out as needed.

I can be reached by email here: EMAIL ME or cell at 757-871-1775.

THE RIGHT TO VOTE

From Deb Wake, LWV-WA President

Deb Wake, our LWV of Virginia president:

"While the Virginia constitution gives the governor sole discretion over restoration of rights, our position holds that right restoration should be automatic and we have advocated for many years to make this change in our constitution.
At our convention to be held in Williamsburg June 2-4, delegates will have the opportunity to study the right to vote and whether our position should be expanded to protect a right to vote that is not abridged by law and/or that would permit 16 year olds to vote."

Please REGISTER for the May 16 caucus to learn more about the proposed study and contact Pam Berg if you would like to participate in the study."
