League Scholarships Awarded June 2023

This year, due to an incredibly generous donation, our League was able to award three $1500 scholarships - one to a graduating senior from each of the WJCC public high schools. Laura Tripp and Denise Koch participated in the awards ceremony hosted by the Williamsburg Community Foundation Scholarship Committee at Warhill High School, Sunday, June 4 and awarded LWV-WA scholarships to: Caroline Findlay (Warhill) who will attend East Carolina University Honors College; Clara Burgess (Lafayette) who will attend University of Georgia; and Tzipora Hyman (Jamestown) who will attend Virginia Tech.
This year, there were 84 scholarships awarded through the Foundation for a total of $159,000. We have contact information and will check in with each of them during the upcoming year. We’ve invited them to join the League and attend our Annual Meeting.
