About the Annual Meeting
Annual Meeting of the membership. Elects officers and directors; approves bylaw changes; adopts local program; approves budget.
About Committees
Introduction to Committees of the League. President shall be an ex officio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.
Budget Committee is appointed by the Board to develop budget for each fiscal year (July 1—June 30 cycle)
Bylaws
At least every two years the Board shall appoint a Bylaws Review Committee which shall consist of both Board and non-Board members.
Serves one fiscal year (July 1—June 30) Composed of three non-Board League members elected at the Annual Meeting to the Committee. The Board appoints two of its own members to the Committee immediately following the Annual Meeting. President shall be an exofficio member of all committees except the Nominating Committee.
A "Unit" is a sub-group of members within large local League that provides more opportunity for action and discussion. Units may be time-oriented (day, evening, lunch hour), geographically oriented, or both. Our Peninsula Unit is geographically based on the Peninsula of Virginia (or sometimes, called the "Lower Peninsula")
COMPOSITION: OFFICERS: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer — each serves a two-year term (elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting). ELECTED DIRECTORS: Up to 8 Elected Directors — each serves a two-year term (elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting). APPOINTED DIRECTORS: Up to 6 Appointed Directors — appointed by a majority vote of the elected members of the Board after the Annual Meeting (serve one-year terms that end on June 30 of that fiscal year.).
The Treasurer is an elected Officer of the Board and member of the Executive Committee. The Treasurer is elected by the membership at the Annual Meeting.
