HELP PROTECT OUR ELECTION
The following guidance comes from the
President of the League of Women Voters of Virginia,
who asks League members to remain alert for possible problems
at polling places during the final days of early voting and on
Election Day, Tuesday, November 3.
If you observe voter intimidation, threatening behavior,
weapons, unusual law enforcement activity, or other circumstances
that may interfere with voting, please take the following steps.
1. Report concerns to Election Protection
Call or text the nonpartisan Election Protection hotline:
866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683)
2. Notify LWV of Virginia of serious incidents
For serious incidents involving threats, weapons, suspected
voter intimidation, or interference with ballots or voting
equipment, immediately call or text the
LWV of Virginia President at
703-861-3282
.
This includes credible reports of ballot box seizures or
interference with election materials after polls close.
Please call or text rather than email.
LWV-VA would rather receive an extra report than miss
an important incident.
3. Document what you observe — only if safe
Record the location, time, and details of the incident.
If you can safely take photographs, do so. Do not confront
anyone or put yourself or others at risk.
Important for election workers:
Follow the procedures established by your local electoral
board first.
The League's priority is to help ensure that every eligible
voter can cast a ballot safely and without intimidation.
